PRACTICE CHARTS BEGIN AUGUST 16th

Practice Charts will begin for Intermediate Band, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band students on Monday, August 16th.  The first chart will be DUE in class on Monday, August 23.  Check the grading contracts below for specific information on how much practice time is required.  Click the button on the left hand side of the page called "PRACTICE CHARTS" to download the form.

Welcome Beginning Band Students!

We are excited to have you in the Johnson Band Program!  During the next week, we will be allowing your student to try all the instruments, and we will be helping them to make the decision about what instrument they will be playing in the coming year.  We will send home instrument rental information and flyers for our local music store on Thursday, August 19th, and students are encouraged to have their instrument in class on Monday, August 23rd to begin playing.  Please contact Mrs. Singletary at singletary.laura@brevardschools.org if you have questions or concerns about the instrument testing process.

Please read the beginning band grading contract for more information about the band program.  This document will be given to students in class during the second week of school, and students are expected to return the signature page to Mrs. Singletary for their first grade of the nine weeks!

Welcome to our web site!

The Johnson Middle School Band, under the direction of Laura Singletary and Veronica Curran, consists of two beginning bands, Intermediate Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Symphonic Band.  Over 270 students are enrolled in band at Johnson Middle School! 

Mrs. Singletary is beginning her 12th year as the Band Director at Johnson.  She is the Middle School Chairperson for the Brevard All-County Band, and she serves as an assistant director for the Eau Gallie High School Band Program as well.  Mrs. Singletary was honored to be selected as the 2009 Florida Middle School All-State Band Conductor, performing at the Florida Music Educators Association Convention in Tampa (January, 2009.) The Johnson Band is widely recognized as an outstanding band program in central Florida, and the Johnson Music Department is recognized by the Florida Department of Education as a "Music Demonstration School."   We hope you will use this web site as a source for information about the Johnson Band Program.  Click the buttons on the left for more information.
